Problem encountered The CD-ROM that was handed to me immediately after the scan contained corrupted DICOM images. The files are present on the disc, but most (or all) of the .dcm files are unreadable or only partially readable in standard DICOM viewers (RadiAnt, MicroDicom, Weasis, Horos, etc.). Several images show heavy artefacts, missing slices, or fail to open entirely.

This means the original image data as provided by the radiology centre on physical media is defective and cannot be used reliably for second opinions or archiving.
